Share the moment. Keep your boundaries.

Before sending a link, check what is in the frame and who can access it.

Choose who can see it

Private content is available to its owner. “Unlisted” keeps it out of the public feed, but anyone receiving the link can forward it. Public content can appear in the feed and profile.

A password adds a check before viewing. A one-time link allows one recipient to view for a limited period. Neither option prevents that recipient from saving a copy or recording their screen.

An expiry limits access to the content. Making content private or deleting it closes access for other visitors in lacuna, but cannot remove copies already saved by recipients or previews cached by external services.

Publish with care

Share your own work or material you have permission to share. Respect authorship and the consent of people in the frame.

Remove passwords, API keys, documents, addresses and conversations that are not intended for the recipient. Review the entire video and its audio before publishing.

Do not use lacuna for threats, harassment, spam, malicious material or sharing other people’s personal information without consent. Do not bypass access controls on other people’s files or account restrictions.

Understand what is stored

Browser editing, compression and conversion run on your device. A file is sent to lacuna when you save it to the service. Screen recording is in the Windows app.

Stored files are encrypted at rest. This is not end-to-end encryption: the server decrypts content for authorized viewing. An authorized administrator can open content through the private review tool; that action is logged.

Your avatar is visible to signed-in visitors of your accessible profile. Individual file privacy settings do not control avatar visibility. Keep confidential information out of it.

Your login key opens your account. Store it securely and do not share it. Email recovery is not available; issued API keys can be revoked in your account.

Report a problem

Open the content and choose “Report” — no account is needed. Select a reason and briefly describe the problem; do not include passwords or other secrets in your comment. Moderators review reports of sexual content involving minors first.

Reports enter a private moderation queue. A report decision and content deletion are separate actions; submitting a report does not automatically hide the publication.

You can delete your own content from the library. Account settings include data export and account deletion. Deleting an account closes access immediately; stored objects are cleaned up in the background.
