Limits

Limits apply per account: all its keys share one budget. GET /api/v1/account returns the exact numbers of your plan in limits.

Request rate

  • 60 requests a minute per account, for all its keys together.
  • Resumable uploads have budgets of their own: 240 upload requests and 1200 parts a minute.
  • Responses carry X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset (seconds until the budget refills).
  • Above the limit: 429 RATE_LIMITED with Retry-After.

File sizes and storage

WhatLimit
ImageUp to 10 MB on the free plan (limits.maxImageBytes) and 40 megapixels; Pro has no limit for one file, only the storage and the server’s 64 MB ceiling.
VideoUp to 100 MB on the free plan (limits.maxVideoBytes); Pro has no limit for one file, only the storage and the server’s 4 GB ceiling.
Account storageThe plan’s quota (user.quotaBytes); above it: 413 QUOTA_EXCEEDED.

More storage and larger files: see the plans.

Simultaneous uploads

  • An account sends up to 2 files with POST /uploads and up to 3 parts at a time; more get 429 UPLOAD_USER_BUSY with Retry-After.
  • A busy server answers 503 UPLOAD_SERVER_BUSY with Retry-After; nothing is stored.
  • A body that stops arriving is dropped: after 30 seconds for POST /uploads, 20 seconds for a part (408 UPLOAD_STALLED).
