Convert HEIC to JPG

iPhone photos in HEIC do not open everywhere. Here you can turn them into JPG — one by one or up to 30 files at once — right in your browser, with no apps and no upload to a server.

How it works

  1. Choose HEIC photos or drop them into the frame below.
  2. Keep JPG — or choose PNG, WebP, AVIF — and, if you like, the quality and size.
  3. Press “Convert” and download the files one by one or all at once as a ZIP.

Your file stays with you

The pictures are not uploaded to lac.pics or anywhere else: your browser processes them, on your device. No sign-up needed. You need an account only to save the result to lacuna and send a link: then the files go to “Uploads” in your account.

Questions

Are the photos uploaded to a server?

No. The pictures are processed in this tab, on your device — by the browser and a WebAssembly engine that also runs locally. Files reach lacuna only if you press “Save to lacuna” and sign in.

Why turn HEIC into JPG?

JPG opens everywhere: in Windows without extensions, in older programs, on websites and in upload forms. HEIC takes less space, but not everything understands it.

How do I make the files smaller?

Choose WebP or AVIF and a lower quality, and in “Size” a limit on the long side. Each file’s new size is shown in the list.

What happens to transparency?

iPhone HEIC photos usually have none. If the source has it, JPG puts a background under it — white by default, you can pick the colour; PNG, WebP and AVIF keep transparency.
